Nasreen Haroon

Nasreen Haroon was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1952 and has lived in Santa Monica since 1980, painting seriously since 1992. She is recognized for creating warm, peaceful spaces that reflect a sacred connection to nature through rich, warm hues. Her work is described as spiritual, drawing inspiration from mystical childhood memories of Karachi and California's landscape.

Her paintings have been exhibited globally, including at the Florence Biennale, Sharjah Cultural Palace, and Bergamot Station. She participated in the US "Art in Embassies" program, with works displayed in embassies across Islamabad, Dakar, Abu Dhabi, Algiers, Abuja, Riyadh, and Dhaka. In 2007, she served as Cultural Envoy to the UAE, conducting nine master classes.

Beyond her art practice, Haroon has been deeply involved in promoting cultural and religious diversity. Her roles include co-chair of Muslim-Jewish Dialogue, board member of the Santa Monica Bay Interfaith Council, and founding board member of the Los Angeles Chapter of Developments in Literacy. She received a Trailblazer Award from NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change.

Awards and recognition include the Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award (2022, 2019), Who's Who of Professional Women in Marquis Who's Who (2022), Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award (2019), and appointment as American Artist Abroad representative for Algeria (2008).
